Waterside District hiring event will take place April 3 – 7 at Norfolk Works office
The City of Norfolk and Waterside District are hosting a hiring event April 3-7, 2017. Waterside District is accepting applications for all types of positions, including servers, cooks, bartenders, kitchen staff and other front and back-of-the house roles for the new dining and entertainment district.
Interviews will be held April 3-7 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Norfolk Works office located at 103 Bank Street in downtown Norfolk. Free, two-hour parking is available at the Fountain Park Garage located on Bank Street (enter on Plume Street side and bring ticket to the hiring event).
To participate in the hiring event, applicants are asked to follow these steps:
- Choose the job you want to apply for and complete the application online at www.watersidedistrict.com/careers. Only fully completed applications will be considered.
- Attend the hiring event (no appointment necessary, applicants will be interviewed on a first come, first served basis), and be sure to bring i9 documentation as applicants may be offered a job on the spot.
The City of Norfolk established Norfolk Works to prepare and connect residents to meaningful job opportunities and champion the recruitment of Norfolk residents to support business growth. Although Norfolk Works is focused on Norfolk residents, interested and qualified applicants throughout the Hampton Roads region are invited and encouraged to apply.
“We are excited that Norfolk Works is helping to fill the approximately 1,000 jobs that Waterside District is bringing to the City,” said Kenneth C. Alexander, Mayor. “We’ve had a lot of success helping companies attract and retain talent since the launch of Norfolk Works in 2016 and look forward to the great impact of this event.”
Waterside District will be a place where the community can come together with family and friends for entertainment, a full range of culinary options, nightlife and activities for all ages. It will feature the best of local, regional and national restaurants and will offer music, festivals and more. Waterside District will open with private events in late April and officially open to the public on May 4. The Grand Opening celebration is set for May 11-14, and a complete list of activities and events can be found at www.watersidedistrict.com/grandopening.
“We’re proud to partner with the City of Norfolk in supporting local hiring and training initiatives,” stated Glenn Sutch, President of Waterside District. “Waterside District is going to be an exciting, vibrant destination and we look forward to hosting the event April 3-7 as we continue to build a strong team for Waterside District.”
