We've partnered with 31Heroes to kick off your Veteran's Day weekend in support of Bart's Mile 🐾

Join us and walk a mile with your canine companion in honor of Bart, military working dogs, and all veterans.

Meet us on the Rocky Mountain Patio at 5PM - we will walk to Battleship Wisconsin at the Nauticus and back for Bart’s Mile.

Bart, a Belgian Malinois and military working dog assigned to the elite Navy SEAL Team 6, was one of the 31Heroes we lost on August 6, 2011.

John “Jet Li” Douangdara was the handler of Bart and inspired Bart's Mile.

The walk will be led by Arlene Douangdara, John’s sister, and her retired MWD named Jet.

Registration includes a shirt, sweatshirt, or bandana and will be shipped after the event.

About 31Heroes

On August 6, 2011, America lost 30 military service members and one U.S. military K-9– when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, call sign Extortion 17, was downed in Afghanistan. In the wake of the unimaginable tragedy, a mission was born.

The mission of 31Heroes is to raise money and awareness through social and athletic events to support the families of Extortion 17 and honor their legacy by funding the treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Working dogs play a huge role in our military, but until the publicized death of Bart, their work was largely unknown.

Bart is our 31st Hero.

Challenge

Walk Bart's Mile barefoot (be observant of any hazards).

Bart's Mile is usually done barefoot, for those brave enough to try, during the 31Miles for 31Heroes ruck event in August to honor our four-legged teammates who don’t wear shoes. They say the best way to understand someone is to walk a mile in their shoes, well the same applies, only this teammate didn’t wear them.
