Hundreds zombie-walked their way to downtown Norfolk for Wicked Waterside weekend.
The weekend kicked off on Friday night with the Masquerade in Ghent. The Ghent Business Association was worried that inclement weather might affect their event, but Waterside District happily extended a helping hand and offered to host the the Masquerade indoors. We welcomed dozens of costumed families and Ghent residents to Waterside for the annual parade and costume contest.
After the masquerade in Ghent, bands Runaway June and local-favorite the Deloreans hit the Market stage for Wicked Waterside: Return of the 80s. People rocked to their favorite 80s classics to kick off Halloween weekend.
On Saturday, Wicked Waterside, our annual Halloween party, brought everyone from Cleopatra, Bob Ross, Childish Gambino, Forrest Gump, and the Sanderson Sisters to Waterside District. With music from DJ Silver, a surprise drag show from Sandra Lopez, and $10,000 in cash and prizes, the party was a wicked good time.
The boys from 90s classic Good Burger took home first place for best original costume, Pennywise and Georgie from the movie IT took home the grand prize for best couples costume, and Will Ferrell’s movie roles (all of them – from Elf to Anchorman) won best group.
Thanks to everyone who made it out to Wicked Waterside. We can’t wait to see your costumes next year!
